it's not too late to start over

Episode Summary

what happens when you stumble across advice from your younger self and realize you might actually need to hear it again? while going through old youtube videos, jo finds a video she recorded in 2020, back when she had just turned 40, walked away from a decade long career, and was figuring out how to start over after two broken engagements. six years later, she's pressing play on five lessons about putting yourself first, trusting your gut, loving yourself, asking for help, and believing it's never too late to build a different life. and apparently, 40 year old jo had some pretty good advice.

Episode Notes

imagine finding a video of yourself from six years ago and realizing that girl was out here giving life advice like she had it all figured out 😂

except here's the thing. she actually had some pretty good things to say.

this week, jo is taking a little trip back to 2020, when she was 40, newly single, starting a completely different career, and trying to convince herself that she wasn't too old to begin again - and while a lot has changed since then, some of the things she was telling herself back then are exactly what she needed to hear today.

because starting over sounds exciting until you're actually the one doing it. until you're questioning whether you made the right decision, wondering if everyone else is further along, or realizing that the life you thought you'd have by now looks absolutely nothing like the one you're living.

and sometimes the hardest part isn't even starting over. it's giving yourself permission to want something different without treating everything that came before it like a failure.

so consider this a little throwback, a little pep talk, and a reminder from 40 year old jo that you can change your mind, change your plans, and change your entire life without being too late for any of it.

and yes, present day jo cringed at her old voice a little - but she's also giving that girl her flowers 🤍
